Sokoto Government Launches Social Media Training to Digitalize Governance
The Sokoto State Government has initiated a three-day capacity-building workshop to train information officers on the strategic use of social media for public engagement, marking a decisive step towards digitizing its communication system and strengthening its connection with citizens.
The workshop, themed “Amplifying Government Communication: Embracing Social Media for Public Communication,” opened on Monday at Dankani Guest Palace, Sokoto, with top government officials calling for responsible and proactive use of digital platforms.
The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Alhaji Sambo Bello Danchadi, stated that the initiative is part of Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto’s broader vision to make government communication transparent, responsive, and citizen-centered.
“In today’s world, governance is no longer about what is done behind closed doors, but how well those actions are communicated,” Danchadi noted. He emphasized that effective communication is a key driver of good governance and urged participants to develop digital literacy and ethical online engagement skills.
