CSC Babawale revealed that the CG’s SIS also dismantled several kidnapping and terrorism networks operating in Nasarawa, Benue, and Plateau States. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives on October 15, 2025, arrested two notorious suspects — Ibrahim Hudu (30) and Hassan Ibrahim (23) — in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in multiple cases of armed robbery, kidnapping, and murder of victims even after ransom payments were made. Their victims included Mr. Obasanjo H. Audu and Mr. Muhammad Yaka, a farmer who was executed after recognizing one of the gang members.
Further investigation revealed that Hassan Ibrahim also participated in the bloody attacks that claimed several lives in Yelwata community, Benue State.
In another operation, NSCDC operatives arrested suspects for vandalizing and illegally connecting electrical installations to residential buildings, as well as extorting residents through the fraudulent collection of electricity bills. One of the suspects, Mohammed Aliyu (23), was apprehended for vandalism, assault, and causing grievous bodily harm.
Other suspects, Babawale added, were identified as major receivers and buyers of stolen properties from armed robbers and kidnappers.
Reaffirming the Corps’ resolve to rid the country of criminal elements, CSC Babawale said the NSCDC, under Commandant General Audi, remains steadfast in protecting the lives and properties of law-abiding citizens.
“The Corps will continue to wage an unrelenting war against all forms of criminality to safeguard the lives and properties of Nigerians,” he assured.
He also appealed to members of the public to support the NSCDC and other security agencies with credible and actionable intelligence to enhance national security.
Babawale further stated that all suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
