Sule Yau Sule Becomes First Northerner to Attain Triple Communication Fellowship
Dr. Sule Yau Sule, an Associate Professor of Strategic Communication, has been conferred as a Fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE). He already holds Fellowships from the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the Advertising Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON).
This recent development marks a significant milestone in his career and making him the first Northerner to be honored with the fellowship of all three statutory and major professional pillars of mass communication: journalism, public relations and advertising.
His induction took place during the 21st All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC), held in Abuja from November 11 to 14. The conference was themed, “Democratic Governance and National Cohesion: The Role of Editors”.

Dr. Sule currently serves as a senior lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication at Bayero University, Kano, and chairs the Board of Directors of Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR), publishers of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential.
Born in Kano, his professional journey began in 1990 at the Triumph Newspapers. His career highlights include an unprecedented tenure as Director of Press in Kano State, where he served under multiple military and civilian administrations, including those led by Brigadier-General Dominic Oneya, Colonel Aminu Isah Kontagora, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau.

With over three decades of impactful work, Dr. Sule is widely regarded as a distinguished communication expert whose expertise spans print and broadcast journalism, political communication, advertising, and media studies.
Dr. Sule was inducted alongside five other new Fellows, including Dr. Amanze Obi, Arinze Azuh, Ephraims Tokan Sheyin, and Ken Njoku. Also, Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), was inducted as a Member of the NGE during the event.
