COAS Visits Wounded Soldiers in Kaduna, Pledges Enhanced Medical Care, Troops Welfare

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has assured wounded troops receiving treatment at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna of the Army’s firm commitment to their full recovery and overall welfare.

General Shaibu gave the assurance on Friday, 21 November 2025, during his maiden operational visit to the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, where he met personnel injured in the line of duty.

Commending the troops for their gallantry and service to the nation, the Army chief praised their resilience and sacrifice, describing them as symbols of courage. He noted that he once received treatment at the same hospital after sustaining injuries in combat, a personal experience which, he said, deepened his appreciation of the challenges faced by wounded soldiers.

The COAS expressed confidence in the standards and management of the hospital, assuring the troops that they were in capable hands and would continue to receive quality medical attention. He urged them to comply strictly with their treatment plans to aid their recovery.

Reaffirming his leadership’s renewed focus on personnel welfare, General Shaibu pledged continuous improvements in the wellbeing of soldiers and their families.

During the visit, he also commended the Medical Director, Brigadier General Godwin Ogoh, along with other officers, soldiers and civilian staff, for their professionalism and dedication to service. He conducted a tour of the hospital facilities to assess ongoing upgrades and developments within the institution. The COAS was accompanied by principal staff officers from Army Headquarters.

In continuation of his operational tour, Lieutenant General Shaibu proceeded to Headquarters Sub-Sector 4, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, located along the Kaduna–Abuja Highway, where he interacted with troops and evaluated their morale and operational readiness.
