Anambra Police Nab Suspect with Firearm After Online Threats to Attack Stations
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Oluchukwu Anyaoku after a viral video surfaced online showing him allegedly issuing violent threats and vowing to destroy all police formations in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, said operatives attached to the Obosi Division immediately launched an intelligence-led operation after intercepting the video on 2nd December 2025.
According to the police spokesperson, officers traced and apprehended the suspect, who was found in possession of a firearm and a cutlass at the time of his arrest.

“Following this development, the suspect was taken into custody for questioning. Preliminary observations suggest he may require professional medical evaluation, and appropriate procedures are being initiated,” the statement read.
The Police Command added that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka for a thorough investigation. Detectives at the SCID are expected to review the video evidence, interrogate the suspect, and determine whether he acted alone or in connection with any group.
SP Ikenga reassured residents of Obosi and the wider Anambra public of the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order, warning that threats against security agencies or acts capable of breaching public peace will not be tolerated.
“The Command urges the public to remain law-abiding and continue to assist the police with credible information that enhances security across the state,” he added.
