Military sources said the suspect escaped before the troops arrived, but a comprehensive search of the hideout led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine and communication gadgets believed to be used for coordinating illegal arms dealings.
All recovered items, according to the military, are in safe custody while efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspect.
Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer of JTF Operation Enduring Peace, said the troops remain committed to dismantling criminal supply chains and ensuring the safety of civilians within the joint operations area.
He added that soldiers under Operation Enduring Peace remain highly motivated and will sustain legitimate operations to degrade the capacity of non-state actors across Plateau State and beyond.
