JUST IN: Gen. Musa Assumes Office as Defence Minister
Newly appointed Minister of Defence and immediate past Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd), on Friday formally assumed duty at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Abuja.
Musa, who was appointed on Tuesday by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the resignation of former minister Mohammed Badaru, was confirmed by the Senate on Thursday after a five-hour screening session.

His appointment has been widely received with optimism across the security sector, with stakeholders describing him as a firm and innovative military leader, credited with operational reforms during his tenure as CDS between 2023 and 2025.
PRNigeria gathered that the new minister arrived at the ministry at about 11:10 am, inspected the Quarter Guard in line with military tradition, before exchanging pleasantries with the Chief of Defence Staff, service chiefs, and top officials of the ministry.
Gen. Musa is currently holding a closed-door briefing with the service chiefs and directors of the ministry, expected to focus on current security priorities and ongoing military operations nationwide.
