Nigeria Reaffirms Commitment to Hosting 2026 World PR Forum
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s full commitment to hosting the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) in Abuja.
Speaking at the 2025 End-of-Year Media Engagement on Monday, the Minister described winning the hosting rights as a landmark achievement and a key scorecard for Nigeria’s information and communications sector in the outgoing year.
The announcement was officially released in a statement signed by Stanley Ogadigo, Director of Public Relations for the NIPR.
In what he termed a “historic” milestone, Minister Idris revealed that Nigeria will host both the Global Alliance WPRF and the African Public Relations Association (APRA) Conference in 2026.

This marks the first time a single African nation will host both premier global and continental PR events in the same year. According to the Minister, this achievement signals international confidence in Nigeria as a primary hub for responsible communication in Africa.
The President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku, who was present at the engagement, expressed satisfaction with the international response so far, noting that a high number of countries have already registered for the forum scheduled for November 2026.
To maximize participation and corporate visibility, the NIPR President issued a call to action:
Dr. Neliaku urged professionals to utilize the “early bird” registration package, which is set to expire in January 2026.
He encouraged national and international brands to partner with the project to gain significant global visibility and mileage.
The Minister concluded by calling on all stakeholders to support the nation’s vision, ensuring that the 2026 WPRF showcases Nigeria’s potential to the world.
