CP Kankarofi Greets Kogi Residents, Reaffirms Commitment to Safety and Security in 2026

The Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, has extended warm New Year greetings to the people of the state, assuring them of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property as 2026 begins.

In his New Year message, CP Kankarofi described the season as a period of renewed hope, unity and collective responsibility, praying for peace, progress and prosperity for individuals, families and communities across Kogi State.

He reassured residents that the Kogi State Police Command remains fully prepared and resolute in ensuring a safe and secure environment throughout the year, stressing that security remains the Command’s top priority.

Reflecting on the Command’s efforts in the closing months of 2025, the Commissioner disclosed that the Police recorded significant successes through proactive policing, intelligence-led operations and strong collaboration with communities. According to him, these efforts led to the arrest of 82 suspects involved in various crimes, including kidnapping, armed robbery, homicide, unlawful possession of firearms and rape, as well as the rescue of 102 victims.

CP Kankarofi added that the Command also foiled several criminal plots and recovered assorted arms and ammunition, including AK-47 and AK-49 rifles, Dane guns, locally made pistols and live ammunition, thereby preventing potential threats to public safety.

He emphasized that security is a shared responsibility and called on residents to remain vigilant, law-abiding and supportive of law enforcement efforts by promptly reporting suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

The Commissioner commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for his exemplary leadership and commitment to community policing, which he said has strengthened the ongoing fight against criminality in the state.

He also expressed appreciation to the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his continued support and encouragement to the Police Command, as well as to other security agencies in the state for their cooperation and synergy.

CP Kankarofi further praised officers and men of the Kogi State Police Command for their professionalism and dedication, urging them to sustain the momentum in the New Year.

As Kogi State steps into 2026, the Commissioner called on parents, guardians, traditional and religious leaders, youth groups and other stakeholders to continue promoting peaceful coexistence and discouraging all forms of criminality.

He reassured the public that the Command remains committed to professionalism, discipline and respect for human rights, while strengthening strategies to address emerging security challenges, and wished all residents a safe, peaceful and prosperous New Year.
