Kano Police Nab Notorious Drug Dealer, 5 Suspected Thugs

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a notorious drug dealer and five suspected thugs during an operation at Jaoji Quarters in the Kano metropolis.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, describing the arrest as a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking and related crimes in the state.

According to Haruna, police officers attached to the Jaoji Police Division carried out the operation on January 10, leading to the arrest of a 25-year-old suspected drug dealer, Hafizu Ali, alongside five suspected thugs.

He said various illicit drugs and dangerous weapons were recovered during the operation.

“The Kano State Police Command has made another significant breakthrough in its efforts to combat drug trafficking and other related crimes in the state,” Haruna said. “A suspected drug dealer, Hafizu Ali, aged 25, of Jaoji Quarters, and five suspected thugs were arrested, while various illicit substances and dangerous weapons were recovered.”

Haruna explained that the operation was conducted under the directive of the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, in line with the instructions of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to all commands to intensify strategic crime prevention measures aimed at dismantling criminal networks and ensuring public safety.

Items recovered from the suspected drug dealer included 2,070 capsules of suspected Pregabalin and 23 parcels of suspected Cannabis Sativa.

He added that weapons recovered from the suspected thugs included four knives, two scissors and an axe.

The Commissioner of Police commended the officers involved in the operation for their professionalism and dedication to duty, while also appreciating residents of the state for their continued support and cooperation with the police.

Haruna noted that the suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
