North-West Ops: Troops Eliminate Terrorists, Free 62 Kidnap Victims
Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have killed two terrorists and rescued 62 kidnapped victims during coordinated offensive operations across Kebbi and Zamfara states
The operations, PRNigeria gathered that were carried out by troops operating under Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in close collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilante groups, reinforcing ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal enclaves and restore security in the region.
In Kebbi State, troops acting on actionable intelligence ambushed members of the Lakurawa terrorist group near the boundary between Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State and Binji Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The operation, which took place at Kerani village, resulted in the elimination of two terrorists. Items recovered from the scene included two motorcycles used by the terrorists for mobility.

The neutralised terrorists were reportedly clad in camouflage uniforms, while the motorcycles were padded with thick blankets and fitted with equipment designed for long-range movement, including hand tyre pumps.
In a separate but equally decisive operation in Zamfara State, troops stormed Munhaye Forest, a known hideout of notorious bandit leader Kachalla Alti, following intelligence reports that several captives were being held in the area. The operation led to the successful rescue of 62 kidnapped victims, who have since been secured by the troops. Efforts are currently ongoing to reunite the rescued victims with their families.
The latest successes underscore the sustained momentum of Operation FANSAN YAMMA and the resolve of troops to degrade terrorist and bandit networks operating across the North-West. Military authorities reaffirmed that coordinated ground operations, intelligence-led actions, and community collaboration remain central to the strategy of restoring lasting peace and safeguarding lives and property in the region.
The Nigerian Army, alongside other security stakeholders, has assured residents of the North-West of its continued commitment to maintaining pressure on criminal elements until all identified threats are neutralised and normalcy is fully restored.
