FG Appoints 2 Deputy Corps Marshals for Southeast, Northeast to Boost Operations
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has approved the appointment of two Assistant Corps Marshals as Deputy Corps Marshals for the South East and North East geopolitical zones, in a move aimed at strengthening leadership and enhancing road safety management across the country.
The newly appointed officers are DCM Hyginus Omeje, who currently heads the Operations Department at the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) national headquarters, and DCM Mark Sabiya, in charge of the Department of Finance and Accounts.
According to a statement from the Office of the SGF, the appointments were guided by the need to deploy experienced, disciplined, and performance-oriented officers to strategic command positions to improve service delivery and consolidate national road safety management.

Reacting to the development, the Corps Marshal of the FRSC described the appointments as a timely and well-considered intervention that reinforces the Corps’ leadership structure at a critical stage in the country’s road safety efforts.
He noted that both officers have distinguished themselves through decades of exemplary service, operational excellence, and commitment to the ideals of the Corps, adding that their elevation is expected to significantly enhance command effectiveness, stakeholder engagement, and the execution of targeted safety interventions.
The Corps Marshal also charged the new Deputy Corps Marshals to deploy their wealth of experience in tackling traffic management and road safety challenges across their respective zones.
