Troops Foil Bandits’ Attack, Neutralise One Terrorist in Kaduna
Troops of 1 Division, Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 1 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully repelled a bandit attack in a Kaduna community, neutralising one suspected violent extremist during a swift response operation in the Maraban Rido general area of the state.
PRNigeria gathered that the operation followed a distress call received late on January 22, 2026, alerting security forces to the presence of armed bandits who had invaded Anguwan Fulan village within the Rido axis and rustled livestock from residents.

Acting promptly on the intelligence, troops were deployed to the area where they laid a hasty ambush along the bandits’ suspected withdrawal routes. On making contact with the fleeing criminals, the troops engaged them with superior firepower, forcing the bandits to retreat in disarray with gunshot wounds. One of the attackers was neutralised during the exchange.
Military sources disclosed that following the initial encounter, troops conducted aggressive exploitation of the surrounding forested areas, including the Kankomi Forest, to deny the bandits freedom of movement and prevent a regrouping or counterattack. Another contact was reportedly made at a suspected crossing point around Anguwan Sarki, further disrupting the criminals’ escape.
The timely intervention by the troops effectively rescued the community from further harm, restoring calm to the area and reassuring residents of the military’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
Security authorities said operations in the area remain ongoing, with troops maintaining a strong presence to sustain pressure on bandit groups operating within the Kaduna axis and to prevent future attacks.
