Coup Plot : DHQ Concludes Investigation into 16 Officers, Forwards Report for Further Action
The Defence Headquarters has announced the conclusion of investigations into sixteen officers previously arrested over allegations of indiscipline and breaches of service regulations, with the findings now forwarded to the appropriate superior authority for further action in line with existing military procedures.
The update follows an earlier statement issued in October 2025 regarding the arrest of the affected personnel. According to the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), the investigative process was conducted in accordance with established military standards and carefully examined all circumstances surrounding the conduct of the officers involved.

A statement released by the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, disclosed that the findings identified some of the officers as having cases to answer, including allegations related to actions deemed inconsistent with the ethics, values, and professional standards expected of members of the Armed Forces.
He noted that those concerned will be formally arraigned before the appropriate military judicial panels to face trial in line with the provisions of the Armed Forces Act and other applicable service regulations.
The AFN emphasized that the measures being taken are strictly disciplinary in nature and form part of its internal mechanisms to promote accountability, preserve order, and sustain operational effectiveness within the ranks.
The military authorities also reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, loyalty, and respect for constitutional authority, assuring the public that due process and fairness will guide all proceedings related to the cases.
