Night Assault: Troops Kill 18 Terrorists, Seize Heavy Weapons, Repel Drone Attack in Borno
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have killed at least 18 terrorists during coordinated night and dawn operations across parts of Borno State, repelling a separate drone-assisted attack and maintaining firm control of key locations in the North East.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Joint Task Force North East said troops of Sector 1 conducted a surprise dawn assault on terrorist positions at Bula Dalo on January 28, neutralising more than 12 terrorists and forcing others to flee in disarray.
The operation led to the recovery of four AK-47 rifles, one PKT anti-aircraft gun, one Rocket Propelled Gun and a multiple grenade launcher.

The statement added that in a follow-up operation at the Garno terrorist camp, troops further degraded terrorist capabilities by killing six terrorists, destroying their life-support structures and recovering a large cache of PKT anti-aircraft ammunition.
In a related development, troops of Sector 2 at Sabon Gari came under attack by ISWAP fighters in the early hours of January 29, with the assault supported by multiple armed drones. Although the terrorists briefly breached part of the defensive position, troops swiftly reorganised, repelled the attack and restored full control with reinforcement from nearby locations.
While some soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force were killed in the encounter, the military said exploitation of the area was ongoing to deny the terrorists freedom of action. An excavator and a low-bed vehicle were also damaged during the drone attack.
The Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry and urged them to remain vigilant and aggressive in sustaining pressure on terrorist elements across the theatre.
