Air Marshal Aneke Commissions Modern Housing, Sports Complex for NAF Personnel in Lagos
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has inaugurated new accommodation facilities and a multipurpose sports complex for Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel in Lagos, aimed at enhancing their welfare and overall standard of living.
The commissioning ceremony took place on Tuesday at 055 NAFCAMP, Legico Barracks, Victoria Island, Lagos, where Air Marshal Aneke unveiled two blocks of 24 two-bedroom flats, one block of 40 one-bedroom flats, and a purpose-built sports complex.
Speaking at the event, Aneke emphasized that providing a conducive living environment for personnel and their families is crucial for improving operational efficiency and morale.
“My command philosophy is to maintain a highly motivated, professional, and mission-ready force capable of delivering decisive air power effects. These facilities represent a significant departure from the traditional barracks concept, featuring thoughtful architectural designs executed to the highest standards,” he said.

Aneke further stressed that Legico Barracks should be reserved exclusively for airmen and airwomen, highlighting the importance of personnel welfare as a top priority.
He also commended his predecessor, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar (rtd.), for initiating the projects, noting that his administration had prioritized their timely completion to improve the living and working conditions of NAF personnel.
“Adequate housing reduces welfare-related pressure, promotes stability at home, and enables personnel to focus fully on their duties. We are committed to ensuring your families are comfortable so you can give your best,” Aneke said.
The CAS urged personnel to use the new facilities responsibly and maintain them with a sense of ownership and pride. “These structures should remain a source of comfort, dignity, and motivation for both present and future occupants,” he added.
Air Marshal Aneke also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, the Federal Government, and the National Assembly for their support, which made the projects achievable.
He concluded by reaffirming the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to national security and the Renewed Hope Agenda for a safe, secure, and prosperous Nigeria.
The inauguration underscores the Air Force’s dedication to personnel welfare as a central pillar of its operational and strategic philosophy.
