Lagos Police Arrest Two Suspected Armed Robbers, Recover Firearms
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered firearms and ammunition during separate intelligence-led operations in Ajegunle and Ojo areas of the state.
The arrests, carried out by tactical and surveillance teams of the Command, followed credible intelligence reports on the activities of suspected hoodlums allegedly terrorising residents and commuters in the affected communities.
In Ajegunle, police operatives attached to the Command’s Tactical Team, codenamed “Thunder Blast,” acted on information indicating that a group of suspects were using commercial motorcycles to dispossess unsuspecting members of the public of their belongings while armed with dangerous weapons.
The team swiftly moved to the area and apprehended a 27-year-old suspect, Waheed Orelope. During a preliminary investigation, officers recovered one locally made pistol and two live cartridges from him.

In a similar operation in Ojo, the Surveillance Team of the Ojo Division responded to reports that hoodlums had taken over the Iyana Iba Under Bridge area, posing a threat to commuters and residents.
The operation led to the arrest of a 29-year-old suspect, Wasiu Shonibare, from whom one locally made pistol was recovered.
Police authorities confirmed that the two suspects are currently in custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of their involvement in criminal activities and to identify other members of the alleged gang. The Command said further updates would be provided as investigations progress.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and the protection of lives and property across the state.
