Tinubu Condoles Kwara Over Kaima Killings, Orders Provision of Relief Materials
President Bola Tinubu has commiserated with the government and people of Kwara State over the recent killings in Woro and Nuku communities of Kaima Local Government Area, describing the incident as tragic and deeply disturbing.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima conveyed the President’s condolences on Saturday during a visit to the state, following reports that members of an Islamist sect, Lakurawa, allegedly attacked the two communities on February 3, killing several residents and destroying property.
Speaking on behalf of the President, Shettima described the victims as peaceful citizens engaged in legitimate livelihoods, noting that the affected communities have historically practised tolerant and peaceful forms of Islam.
“Please accept our heartfelt condolences on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Our prayers are with you, and our empathy is with the affected families and communities,” the Vice-President said.
He added that the violence was alien to the history, culture and religious traditions of the communities.

In addition, Shettima said the President had directed the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with the Kwara State Emergency Management Agency, to mobilise relief materials to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to victims.
