CAS to Air Commanders: Dominate the Skies, Break Terrorist Networks
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has directed Air Component Commanders of the Nigerian Air Force to intensify air operations and assert full control of the airspace in ongoing campaigns against terrorists and insurgents across the country.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, today in Abuja.
Air Marshal Aneke gave the directive on Tuesday during a high-level meeting with Air Component Commanders in Abuja, where he reviewed ongoing air operations and outlined a roadmap for sustaining and escalating air power in support of joint military efforts nationwide.
He said the Nigerian Air Force remained committed to decisive, intelligence-driven operations, stressing that speed, precision and sustained pressure were critical to breaking terrorist networks and restoring security.

According to him, air dominance plays a central role in disrupting insurgent logistics, command structures and freedom of movement, while providing critical support to ground forces operating in volatile theatres.
The air chief commended the commanders and their personnel for their resilience and professionalism under demanding combat conditions, noting that recent air operations had yielded measurable gains against hostile elements.
He, however, cautioned that the security environment remains fluid and requires constant adaptation.
He urged commanders to deepen intelligence-led operations, strengthen inter-agency cooperation and fully exploit modern technology to stay ahead of evolving threats.
Air Marshal Aneke also emphasised the need for standardised training, predictive maintenance and rapid logistics support to sustain operational tempo and combat effectiveness.
He assured Nigerians that the Nigerian Air Force would maintain relentless pressure on terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements, adding that the protection of civilians, national assets and territorial integrity remains central to all operations.
The meeting featured operational briefings and reviews by senior officers, with discussions focused on aligning air operations with emerging security challenges.
