Edo NUJ Commends 4 Brigade Nigerian Army for Combat Readiness, Security Gains
The Edo State Council of the (NUJ) has commended the for its sustained combat readiness and pivotal role in neutralising security threats across Edo State.
The commendation was given on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, by the Edo NUJ Chairman, , during a courtesy visit by the union’s leadership to the Brigade Headquarters in Benin City.
Dr. Alenkhe said the union had closely monitored the operational performance of the Brigade since the assumption of office by the current commander, noting that the relative peace and improved security being enjoyed by residents were products of the Army’s proactive posture and constant combat preparedness.
He observed that the 4 Brigade’s sustained operations have significantly strengthened internal security in the state, stressing that closer collaboration between the military and the media remains critical to effective information management and national security.

“The impact of the Brigade’s efforts in restoring peace and stability across Edo State is evident,” Alenkhe said, adding that responsible media engagement plays a key role in supporting security operations and public confidence.
Responding, the Commander of the 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, , described the visit as timely and strategic, acknowledging the media as a vital partner in security communication and perception management.
Brigadier General Balogun assured the NUJ of the Brigade’s continued cooperation, emphasising that a strong military-media relationship would help curb misinformation, enhance professionalism, and promote accurate reporting of security operations.
“The 4 Brigade remains committed to working with the NUJ to promote peace and ensure accurate, responsible information dissemination in Edo State,” the commander stated.
A statement by the spokesperson of the brigade, Captain Kennedy Anyanwu said the visit ended with a mutual commitment to sustain the existing cordial relationship between the Nigerian Army and the media, with both sides agreeing that such partnerships are essential in today’s security environment, where public trust and information integrity are critical to operational success.
