DSS Nabs Child Kidnapper, Rescues 5-Year-Old Boy in Kano
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Kano State Command, have successfully rescued a five-year-old boy, Muhammad Haruna, following a high-stakes tactical operation in Danzaki Village, Minjibir Local Government Area.
The rescue, which occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. on February 12, 2026, marks a significant victory in the ongoing crackdown against child abduction and kidnapping syndicates in the state.
The Abduction and Ransom Demand
The crisis began when the victim’s family filed a formal complaint, stating that the minor had been snatched by unidentified individuals and spirited away to an unknown location.
PRNigeria gathered that the kidnappers subsequently contacted the family, demanding a ransom of ₦15 million for the child’s safe return.
Following the report, a DSS tactical team deployed advanced tracking technology to monitor the suspects. The investigation culminated in a coordinated raid at Danzaki Village, where the team intercepted the suspects.

During the operation, a 20-year-old suspect, identified as Aminu Mukhtar, was apprehended. Investigators revealed that Mukhtar was caught in the act, allegedly using a mobile phone to negotiate the ransom payment with the victim’s father at the very moment the operatives closed in.
Confession and Ongoing Investigation
Upon his arrest, Mukhtar reportedly provided a preliminary confession, admitting to the abduction and stating that his sole motive was to extort the ₦15 million ransom from the family.
The suspect remains in custody as the DSS intensifies investigations to determine if he is part of a larger kidnapping ring operating within the Minjibir axis.
The five-year-old victim, Muhammad Haruna, was recovered unharmed. He has since been placed under professional protective care, where he is undergoing medical and psychological assessment before being officially reunited with his family.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring that all individuals involved in such heinous crimes face the full weight of the law, urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
