Troops of Operation BUGUN KARKANDA III Liberate Bauchi Village
Troops of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army have successfully liberated Mansur Village and nearby settlements in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State as part of the ongoing Operation BUGUN KARKANDA III.
The operation, conducted under the leadership of Major General Folusho Oyinlola, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, targeted armed terrorists and criminal elements responsible for attacks and insecurity in the area.
Military sources revealed that the troops carried out a coordinated offensive on identified terrorist flashpoints, forcing the insurgents to retreat after they had attempted to establish control over Mansur Village.
During subsequent clearance operations, the troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, further weakening the operational capacity of the fleeing terrorists.

Following the successful assault, the troops consolidated their positions and intensified patrols across Alkaleri Local Government Area to sustain security and prevent the return of criminal elements.
Residents of Mansur Village and neighbouring communities have reportedly begun returning to their homes and resuming socio-economic activities following the restoration of relative calm.
Intelligence reports indicate that terrorist gangs operating across Plateau, Bauchi and Taraba states exploit difficult terrains and porous borders to evade security forces through frequent cross-border movements.
The criminal groups are believed to include high-profile leaders such as Mallam Lehi, Mai-Kunkuru and Mallam Azuge, who are said to operate around the Wase/Kanam forest areas and the Jejin Madam axis.
The General Officer Commanding commended the troops for their efforts and urged them to sustain the momentum by maintaining vigilance, denying terrorists freedom of action and ensuring the protection of civilians.
Operation BUGUN KARKANDA III forms part of the Nigerian Army’s broader strategy to dominate insurgent corridors and restore lasting peace and security across the North-East and North-Central regions of the country.
