NAF Jets Foil Terrorist Attack on Yobe Military Base, Kill 10 Insurgents
The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai has neutralised several terrorists following a swift air response to an attempted attack on troops of the 120 Battalion in Goniri, Yobe State.
Security sources confirmed that the incident occurred at about 12:15 a.m. on Monday when insurgents launched an assault on the military formation under Sector 2 in the Goniri axis.
According to the sources, the terrorists infiltrated the area and breached the defensive perimeter of the military base, leading to an intense gun battle with troops stationed at the location.
Upon receiving a distress call from soldiers on the ground, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai immediately deployed fighter aircraft to provide close air support.

“The aircraft were quickly scrambled and successfully identified hostile elements around the location,” the sources said. “They then conducted precision strikes on the terrorists’ positions.”
During the operation, the fighter jets reportedly dropped two bombs on the insurgents’ hideouts with what sources described as “devastating accuracy,” killing at least 10 terrorists who attempted to flee after spotting the approaching aircraft.
The rapid aerial intervention disrupted the insurgents’ attack and restored tactical advantage to the troops defending the base.
Military sources noted that the prompt response of the Air Component played a decisive role in repelling the assault and preventing the terrorists from overrunning the military position.
Operation Hadin Kai is the Nigerian military’s ongoing counterinsurgency campaign aimed at dismantling terrorist groups operating in the North-East region.
