Troops Intercept Suspected Gunrunner, Seize Ammunition in Nasarawa
Troops of Operation White Shield (OPWS) have arrested a suspected gunrunner and recovered ammunition and cash in Obi Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
According to security sources, the arrest took place at approximately 9:20 a.m. on March 14, when Section 2 of OPWS, deployed in Awe and Lafia, in collaboration with a tactical team from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), intercepted the suspect at Agwatashi.

The suspect is alleged to have been supplying firearms to criminal networks operating along the Kwara–Kogi axis. During the operation, troops recovered 200 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a mobile phone, and ₦50,000 in cash from the individual.
Security sources confirmed that the suspect and the seized items are currently in military custody for further investigation. Follow-up operations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other collaborators within the arms supply network.
