Troops Eliminate 4 Terrorists, Recover Weapons in Sokoto, Katsina Operations
Troops of the Nigerian Army have intensified ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the North-West, neutralising four suspected terrorists and recovering weapons during coordinated patrols in Sokoto and Katsina states.
Security sources disclosed that in Sokoto State, troops of 8 Division operating from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Sabon Birni conducted a fighting patrol at about 12:00 p.m. on March 15 across several communities, including Tara, Garin Idi, Zango Mallam, Magira, Burukuzuma, and Taratsi in Sabon Birni Local Government Area.
While advancing towards Taratsi village, the troops encountered suspected terrorists and engaged them in a gun battle. Four of the terrorists were neutralised during the exchange. The troops also recovered an AK-47 rifle with a magazine, while a motorcycle used by the suspects was destroyed at the scene.

In a separate operation in Katsina State, troops of 17 Brigade operating from FOB Mabai made contact with suspected terrorists at about 7:45 a.m. on the same day along the Kankara–Mabai Road, near Ruwan Lafia crossing point in Kankara Local Government Area. Following a brief firefight, the terrorists fled, abandoning a motorcycle which was subsequently recovered by the troops.
Similarly, troops from FOB Malumfashi responded to intelligence on terrorist activities at Ruwan Sanyi village in Malumfashi Local Government Area at about 11:10 p.m. on March 14. Upon arrival, the troops engaged the suspects, who fled with gunshot wounds, as indicated by blood stains found on a recovered motorcycle. Further exploitation of the area led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle loaded with 17 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
Military sources confirmed that troops have sustained aggressive patrols and dominance operations across the affected areas to deny terrorists freedom of movement and prevent further attacks.
