Military Arrest Ammunition Courier, Rescue Kidnap Victim in Plateau
Troops of Operation Safe Haven have recorded significant operational successes in Plateau State, arresting a suspected terrorist ammunition courier and rescuing a kidnap victim in separate operations.
Security sources disclosed that the arrest was carried out at about 1:00 p.m. on March 15 in Kuka area by troops operating under Sector 9, Sub-Sector 91, following actionable intelligence. The suspect was apprehended in possession of 100 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, reportedly intended for a terrorist group operating around Wase Local Government Area and adjoining states.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect is allegedly a member of the terrorist network. He was also found to have a gunshot wound believed to have been sustained during an attack in Benue State in 2024. The suspect and the recovered ammunition are currently in custody, with further investigations ongoing.
In a related development, troops under Sector 6 conducted a successful search-and-rescue operation in Riyom Local Government Area, leading to the rescue of a kidnap victim.
The operation followed a distress report of kidnapping activities received at about 7:30 a.m. on March 15 along the Manchok–Jos Road. Troops swiftly mobilised to the area, conducted a coordinated search, and successfully rescued the victim.
The rescued individual has since been debriefed to provide intelligence that could support follow-up operations aimed at tracking down the perpetrators.
Military sources confirmed that troops have sustained intensified patrols and security operations across the state to curb criminal activities and enhance public safety.
