Troops Repel Terrorists Recover RPGs, Ammunition, Motorcycles in Katsina
Security operations in Katsina State recorded significant gains on Wednesday as troops and local security actors repelled terrorist elements and recovered weapons, ammunition, and logistics items in separate incidents across the state.
Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, while on a fighting patrol in Kankara Local Government Area, engaged suspected terrorists along the Kankara–Mabai road at about 8:20 a.m. The encounter occurred at the Ruwan Lafia axis, where the troops reportedly responded with superior firepower, forcing the assailants to flee.

Security sources indicated that a follow-up sweep of the area led to the recovery of a motorcycle believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing suspects. The item has since been taken into custody, while troops continue clearance operations to track down the perpetrators and forestall further attacks.
In a related development, security operatives in the state recovered two rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) rifles and a cache of ammunition from three bandits neutralised in Sabon Gida Village, Jibia Local Government Area.
The recovery, made around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, followed a violent clash on March 17 involving community vigilantes and a group of repentant bandits. A concealed sack found on the neutralised suspects contained the RPG rifles, 139 rounds of live ammunition, and two magazine chains.
Authorities confirmed that the recovered weapons and ammunition have been secured, underscoring ongoing efforts by security forces and local collaborators to degrade criminal networks and enhance safety in the region.
