Eid-el-Fitr: IGP Orders Nationwide Security Reinforcement, Felicitates Muslims
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has extended felicitations to Muslim faithful across Nigeria on the successful completion of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, while directing a nationwide deployment of security assets to ensure a peaceful festive period.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the IGP said the Nigeria Police Force has put in place comprehensive security measures aimed at safeguarding lives and property during the celebrations.
As part of the operational directives, Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders in all states, including the Federal Capital Territory, have been ordered to implement robust security arrangements tailored to local threat assessments.

The measures include the strategic deployment of tactical teams and intelligence operatives, as well as the positioning of the Special Intervention Squad and conventional police personnel at Eid prayer grounds and other critical infrastructure.
The police high command also announced an increased security presence along highways, motor parks, recreational centres, and other public spaces to guarantee hitch-free celebrations nationwide.
According to the statement, the IGP further mandated heightened visibility policing, coordinated patrols, enhanced surveillance operations, and intelligence-led stop-and-search duties to proactively deter criminal activities and ensure rapid response to any emerging threats.
While urging citizens to remain vigilant, the IGP called for sustained cooperation with law enforcement agencies, emphasizing the importance of timely reporting of suspicious activities.

The IGP also wished all Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
