Airstrikes Eliminate Scores of Terrorists in Sambisa, Two Suspects Arrested in Nasarawa
The Nigerian military has recorded fresh operational gains against insurgency, with airstrikes eliminating scores of terrorists in Borno State and troops arresting a suspected terrorist in Nasarawa State.
Security sources disclosed that the operations were conducted on March 20, 2026, under ongoing counter-terrorism campaigns across multiple theatres.
In Borno State, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai carried out precision airstrikes on terrorist positions within the Sambisa Forest, targeting insurgents around the Parisu axis following credible intelligence.
At about 9:00 p.m., an air asset deployed for armed reconnaissance established visual contact with suspected Boko Haram fighters moving tactically before converging on a concealed structure hidden under dense vegetation.
After sustained surveillance, the aircrew trailed the insurgents to the hideout and executed a precision strike, destroying the structure and neutralising multiple fighters at the location.

Battle Damage Assessment indicated that several terrorists fled from nearby hideouts in disarray. The platform subsequently tracked the fleeing elements and conducted a follow-up strike on another identified target, further degrading their operational capability.
Sources said the sustained air operations underscore the military’s growing dominance in the airspace and its capacity to deny insurgents freedom of movement within their strongholds.
In a related development, troops of Operation Whirl Stroke arrested a suspected terrorist in the Gandu area of Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The suspect was apprehended at about 12:30 p.m. after troops of Sector 2, acting on intelligence reports of suspicious activities, swiftly moved to the location.
He was arrested in possession of a motorcycle and is currently in military custody alongside the recovered item, pending further investigation.
Military sources noted that the coordinated operations form part of intensified efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and enhance security across affected regions.
