Troops Eliminate Terrorists in Sokoto, Arrest Suspects in Bauchi
Nigerian military operations against insurgent and terrorist elements have recorded fresh successes in Sokoto and Bauchi states, with troops neutralising two terrorists and apprehending suspects in separate operations.
In Sokoto State, troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA killed two suspected terrorists and recovered weapons during a coordinated offensive in Tangaza Local Government Area.
Security sources said the operation, conducted on March 23, targeted terrorist enclaves around the Tangaza axis. Troops deployed in an ambush position at Magonho Forest, opposite Kadida junction, engaged the insurgents at about 2:10 p.m., neutralising one suspect and recovering two AK-47 rifles, a motorcycle, and rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
However, hours after the initial encounter, the terrorists regrouped and launched a retaliatory attack on Kadida Village, accusing residents of collaborating with security forces.
