Military Eliminates Bandits, Recover Arms in Zamfara
Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have recorded significant operational successes in Zamfara State, neutralising two suspected bandits, dislodging terrorist elements, and recovering arms and communication equipment during coordinated offensives.
Security sources disclosed that the operations, conducted on March 25, targeted identified terrorist enclaves and supply routes in Zurmi and Anka Local Government Areas.
In Zurmi LGA, troops of the 1 Brigade Counter-Terrorism Unit 5, in collaboration with the Tactical Combat Mobile Strike Team, launched an offensive in Dutsi village, Moriki District. The troops made contact with suspected terrorists and engaged them in a firefight, forcing them to retreat in disarray.
Following the initial encounter, the troops pursued the fleeing elements, although no further contact was made. A subsequent sweep of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and 26 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

The operation was later extended to Gandu village within the same district, where troops advancing towards suspected terrorist positions on elevated terrain again engaged fleeing elements, further disrupting their movement and limiting their operational capacity.
In a separate but related operation in Anka LGA, troops of the 1 Brigade Counter-Terrorism Unit laid an ambush along the Gada Maya–Makakari road, a known supply route for bandits.
At about 2:55 p.m., the troops made contact with the armed group and engaged them, neutralising two bandits during the exchange.
Items recovered from the scene included one AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 55 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a Baofeng radio set, two mobile phones, and a motorcycle, all believed to have been used for communication and mobility by the criminals.
Sources said troops have continued to sustain offensive pressure across the affected areas, maintaining dominance and denying criminal elements freedom of action while enhancing security in the state.
