Troops Repel IPOB/ESN Ambush, Neutralise IED Components in Enugu, Anambra
Troops under Operation UDO KA have recorded separate operational engagements with suspected armed groups during coordinated fighting patrols in Enugu and Anambra States, in ongoing efforts to deny criminal elements freedom of movement in South-East Nigeria.
In the Enugu operation, troops of Sector 1, comprising personnel of the 82 Division Garrison and 103 Battalion (Rear), made contact with suspected terrorists during a patrol at Ajali Forest in Ezeagu Local Government Area at about 10:00 a.m. on March 27.
A military source said the troops engaged the armed elements in a brief exchange of fire, forcing them to withdraw from the area.
During the encounter, a civilian bulldozer operator supporting clearance operations sustained injuries and was evacuated to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Troops subsequently continued clearance operations in the forest, supported by four bulldozers aimed at dismantling suspected hideouts within the area. Operations were reported to be ongoing.

In a separate incident in Anambra State, troops of Sector 5, Operation UDO KA, repelled an ambush while encountering improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during a patrol in Ihiala Local Government Area at about 9:45 a.m. on March 27.
The patrol team reportedly came under fire from suspected armed elements believed to be linked to IPOB/ESN during movement through communities along the Mother Valley axis, including Eziorsu, Umuezeani, and Eketutu.
According to a security source, troops returned fire and forced the attackers to withdraw from their positions. No troop casualties were recorded, although fragments from an IED reportedly punctured a tyre of a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle during the encounter.
Despite the threats, the operation was concluded successfully, with military authorities describing it as effectively executed.
Troops have continued sustained clearance and patrol operations across both states as part of broader efforts to degrade armed networks and secure communities in the South-East region.
