2027: Group Urges Sabo Nakudu to Contest Jigawa Governorship Under ADC
A political advocacy group has intensified calls on Mohammed Sabo Nakudu to contest the 2027 governorship election in Jigawa State, citing his experience in business, legislation, and public administration as critical assets for the state’s future.
The appeal, contained in a statement issued on Sunday by Mohammed Suleiman, Head of Nakudu 2027 Policy, Media and Strategy Centre in Jigawa State, comes amid growing political activities ahead of the next general elections.
The group described the former senator as a tested and trusted leader whose track record in both the private and public sectors positions him as a strong contender capable of driving sustainable development in the state.
According to the statement, Nakudu’s over three decades of experience as an industrialist have contributed significantly to job creation and economic growth, underscoring his capacity to manage resources, attract investments, and stimulate local industries.
It further noted that his political journey reflects consistency and commitment to service, recalling his tenure as Senator representing Jigawa Central Senatorial District, as well as his earlier service in the House of Representatives between 2007 and 2015.
The group also highlighted his longstanding ambition to lead the state, dating back to 2003 when he contested the governorship under the platform of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP).

It added that Nakudu’s role in the National Assembly, particularly during the 9th Senate where he chaired the Committee on Downstream Petroleum Resources and led the Ad-hoc Committee on the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB), demonstrated his legislative competence and national impact.
The successful passage of the PIB in 2021, the group noted, remains a landmark reform that continues to shape Nigeria’s energy sector.
In recognition of his contributions, the statement recalled that former President Muhammadu Buhari conferred on him the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) in 2022.
The group further disclosed that stakeholders across Jigawa State are mounting pressure on Nakudu to join the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 elections, describing the proposed move as a potential game-changer in the state’s political landscape.
“As Jigawa approaches a critical political moment, there is a growing need for visionary and economically savvy leadership. Senator Nakudu’s combination of business acumen, legislative experience, and grassroots connection makes him a compelling choice,” the statement said.
It urged the former lawmaker to heed the call and offer himself for the governorship under the ADC platform, expressing confidence that he possesses the competence, credibility, and capacity required to lead the state.
The group maintained that as the 2027 elections draw closer, the electorate would prioritise leadership qualities that go beyond rhetoric, stressing that Nakudu represents a viable option for purposeful governance and sustainable development in Jigawa State.
