Troops Foil IED Attacks, Kill Terrorists, Arrest Collaborators in North-East
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have foiled attempts by terrorists to plant improvised explosive devices, killed insurgents, and arrested suspected collaborators in sustained operations across the North-East.
The military said the operations, conducted between March 31 and April 4, targeted Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province fighters, as well as their logistics networks in parts of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.
In a statement on Saturday, the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North-East) Operation Hadin Kai, Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, said the troops recorded significant successes during the period.
He said troops, in conjunction with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, engaged terrorist logistics suppliers near Geidam in Yobe State, killing three insurgents and disabling a vehicle loaded with supplies.
“Recovered items included food supplies, mobile phones and other materials intended for terrorist camps,” he said.
Uba added that troops also ambushed terrorists attempting to plant IEDs along the Konduga–Kawuri axis, killing two insurgents during the encounter.
“The troops engaged the insurgents with decisive firepower, triggering an explosion that neutralised two terrorists. Weapons and ammunition were recovered during exploitation,” he said.

He further disclosed that troops discovered and safely detonated another IED along the Ngoshe–Pulka road, preventing potential casualties.
In Adamawa State, the military said troops arrested three suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP members in Mubi North Local Government Area during a joint operation with local hunters.
According to Uba, one of the suspects confessed to gathering intelligence on troop movements and participating in a recent attack on security forces.
All suspects, he said, are in custody for further investigation.
The statement added that troops also arrested three logistics suppliers at Mainok market, recovering livestock, mobile phones and cash.
In a related development, troops intercepted a vehicle conveying suspected terrorist elements in Yobe State, where two occupants were found with gunshot wounds linked to previous encounters with security forces.
He said additional arrests were made involving suspected informants and collaborators attempting to move across the theatre, including a foreign national apprehended under suspicious circumstances.
The military said troops have sustained aggressive operations across the region, denying terrorists freedom of movement and disrupting their activities.
“The Military High Command commends the troops for their resilience, vigilance and professionalism, urging them to sustain the momentum,” Uba added.
He reiterated the commitment of the Armed Forces to maintaining pressure on terrorist groups and restoring lasting peace to the North-East.
