Customs Warns Public Against Fake Online Vehicle Auction Scam
The Nigeria Customs Service has issued a public alert over a fraudulent social media account impersonating the agency and falsely advertising vehicle auctions to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.
In a statement made available on the Service official Facebook page, authorities clarified that the purported auction claims did not originate from the NCS and described the development as a deliberate act of impersonation.

According to the agency, the individual whose image is being circulated in connection with the fake auction is not involved in any vehicle sales on social media. The NCS stressed that the account is entirely fraudulent and designed to deceive members of the public into making payments under false pretences.
The Service urged Nigerians to disregard such messages and warned against engaging in any financial transactions linked to the scam. It also called on the public to promptly report the fraudulent account to relevant platforms and authorities for necessary action.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, the NCS advised citizens to rely solely on its verified communication channels for accurate information. These include its official handles on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Threads, and X, as well as its website.
The agency further reiterated its resolve to combat fraud and protect the public from criminal exploitation through digital platforms.
