Troops Repel Attack in Kwara, Arrest 4 Drug Peddlers in Katsina Operation
Nigerian troops have recorded operational successes in Kwara and Katsina states, repelling a suspected terrorist attack and arresting four individuals in a coordinated anti-drug raid.
In Kwara State, troops deployed under Operation Savannah Shield foiled an attack on a patrol base in Gada, Patigi Local Government Area. The incident occurred at about 8:20 p.m. on April 4, 2026, when armed men launched an assault on the facility.
Security sources said the troops responded swiftly, engaging the attackers in a gun duel and forcing them to retreat. Items recovered at the scene included four AK-47 magazines, 15 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a power bank, three pairs of shoes, and a waist belt believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing assailants.

Authorities confirmed that the situation has been brought under control, with reinforced security presence in the area, while troops continue operations to track down the suspects and secure vulnerable communities.
Meanwhile, in Katsina State, troops of Combat Team 3, Machika, working alongside the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, arrested four suspects during a raid targeting illegal drug activities in Dandume Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out at about 3:00 a.m. on the same day, followed credible intelligence on illicit drug operations in villages on the outskirts of Dandume town. The joint team apprehended the suspects in possession of substances suspected to be illegal drugs.
The suspects, along with the recovered exhibits, have been handed over to the NDLEA Area Command for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Security authorities said operations in both states are ongoing, aimed at dismantling criminal networks and enhancing safety across affected communities.
