Musa Urges Robust Inter-Agency Collaboration to Tackle Emerging Security Threats
The Federal Government has intensified calls for closer collaboration among Nigeria’s security and intelligence agencies as part of efforts to address the country’s evolving security threats.
Speaking at a high-level meeting with intelligence and security stakeholders in Abuja on Thursday, the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, stressed the need for a coordinated and integrated approach to intelligence gathering and operations, particularly in tackling asymmetric warfare.
Musa said the current security landscape requires a collective national response, warning that disjointed efforts among agencies have limited operational effectiveness despite notable progress in recent years.
“We have been operating in silos for too long. It is time to come together, harness our collective intelligence, and work as a unified team to support our troops and safeguard the nation,” he said.

The minister commended the resilience and dedication of security personnel, noting that their contributions often go unrecognised due to the complex and unconventional nature of modern security threats.
He also reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive for enhanced joint operations across all security institutions, underscoring the importance of synergy among agencies and parastatals.
According to Musa, integrating human and technical intelligence is critical to generating actionable outcomes and enabling swift responses by troops on the ground. He added that intelligence-driven operations remain central to countering asymmetric threats, where adversaries are often concealed.
The minister further called on Nigerians to support security efforts by providing timely and credible information to relevant authorities, describing public participation as vital to national safety.
The meeting, described by officials as the first of its kind at the Ministry of Defence, is expected to lay the groundwork for a more coordinated intelligence framework aimed at improving operational efficiency and strengthening national security.
