Troops Eliminate 10 Terrorists, Recover Arms in Plateau
Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have neutralised at least 10 suspected terrorists and recovered arms and logistics supplies during coordinated clearance operations in Plateau State.
The operation, conducted in collaboration with local vigilante groups, targeted criminal elements operating in Daba and Seri villages within Wase and Kanam Local Government Areas.
Military authorities said the offensive, carried out under the ongoing Operation WUTAN DAJI, is part of sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restore security across identified corridors in the state.
According to a statement released on Friday, the troops established strategic blocking positions between Dutsen Zaki and the Odare Forest at about 8:30 a.m. on April 9, 2026, following intelligence on terrorist movements in the area.
During the operation, a large group of armed men travelling on motorcycles was sighted along a known transit route. The troops engaged the group with what was described as superior and coordinated firepower, overwhelming the attackers.
At least 10 of the suspects were killed in the encounter, while others fled into nearby forests with injuries.

In a related development, troops responded to a reported attack on commuters along the Razat–Kafi Abu axis. The assailants reportedly retreated into surrounding hinterlands upon contact with security forces, prompting a pursuit operation.
Subsequently, troops carried out cordon-and-search operations across Suma Suga and Takwok villages, as well as adjoining mountainous areas, to track down the fleeing suspects.
The operation led to the recovery of weapons and other items believed to belong to the group, including three AK-47 rifles, three magazines, and eight rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Security forces also recovered two motorcycles and five 25-litre jerrycans containing Premium Motor Spirit, suspected to be part of the group’s logistics supply.
Additionally, a National Identity Card and a photograph linked to the suspects were recovered, providing leads for ongoing investigations.
Military authorities described the operation as a significant step in weakening the operational capacity of armed groups in the area, adding that troops remain on high alert and are pursuing fleeing suspects and their collaborators.
They reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying clearance operations and maintaining dominance in identified flashpoints to ensure the safety of lives and property across Plateau State.
