NAF Bombards Terrorist Hideouts in Southern Tumbuns, Sustains Pressure
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has sustained its high-tempo air operations against terrorist elements, destroying key hideouts in the Southern Tumbuns area of Borno State.
This was disclosed in a press statement issued on Saturday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
According to the statement, the precision air interdiction mission was conducted on April 24, 2026, at about 6:50 p.m., targeting Ali Sheriffti, a known terrorist enclave within the Southern Tumbuns axis.
Ejodame said the operation was executed based on credible intelligence indicating active terrorist movements in the area. NAF air assets subsequently carried out a focused surveillance sweep, during which several insurgents were observed navigating concealed routes.
“The targets were trailed to structures hidden under dense foliage, confirming deliberate attempts at concealment,” he said.

Following positive identification, the air component engaged the location with precision-guided munitions, successfully destroying the identified structures.
“The operation achieved the desired effect, with terrorist structures destroyed, further degrading their capability and freedom of movement in the area,” the statement added.
The NAF noted that the strike underscores its commitment to intelligence-driven and precision-based operations aimed at denying terrorists safe havens across the theatre of operations.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, reaffirmed the force’s resolve to sustain the offensive against insurgents, vowing that no enclave would remain beyond the reach of the Air Force.
“The Nigerian Air Force will continue to pursue and dismantle terrorist networks with unwavering precision and relentless force, ensuring no enclave remains beyond our reach,” he stated.
He added that air operations would continue with increased intensity to safeguard the nation and its citizens.
