2027: Crowdfunding Boost as Senator Buba Purchases APC Governorship Form for Bauchi

Senator Shehu Umar Buba, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, has officially purchased the ₦50 million governorship nomination form of the All Progressives Congress (APC), signalling his entry into the race for the party’s ticket ahead of the 2027 Bauchi State governorship election.

The development comes just days after a coalition of supporters and political groups successfully raised the ₦50 million nomination fee through a crowdfunding initiative, underscoring growing grassroots backing for his ambition.

The fundraising effort was spearheaded by the Shehu Buba 2027 Contact and Mobilization Committee, which announced the successful mobilisation of the funds at a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat.

Speaking through the Committee’s Secretary, Barrister Mukhtar Abubakar, the Chairman, Alhaji Muhammadu Sade, described the initiative as a demonstration of unwavering support for the senator’s governorship bid.

“This effort reflects the collective resolve of members and supporters to back Senator Shehu Buba Umar’s ambition and to present a credible, competent, and people-oriented aspirant for the governorship of Bauchi State,” he said.

According to him, the decision followed extensive consultations and a careful assessment of the political landscape in the state.

Sade noted that the ₦50 million contribution goes beyond financial support, describing it as a symbol of confidence in the senator’s leadership capacity, track record, and grassroots connection.

“This gesture represents our total confidence in his proven leadership qualities, accessibility to the people, and dedication to the welfare of Bauchi citizens,” he added.

He further stated that Senator Buba Umar has demonstrated legislative competence and a deep understanding of the socio-economic challenges facing the state.

“Our decision is rooted in the need to reposition Bauchi State for sustainable development, economic growth, improved infrastructure, quality education, enhanced healthcare delivery, and inclusive governance,” he said.

Political observers say the purchase of the nomination form marks a significant milestone in the senator’s political journey and signals his readiness to seek the mandate of APC delegates.

The committee also called on party members, stakeholders, and residents across the state to rally behind his candidacy in the forthcoming primaries and the general election.

Sade assured party leadership that the decision to support Senator Buba Umar was reached through a transparent and inclusive process, reflecting the will of party faithful.

Analysts note that the move is likely to energise APC structures in Bauchi State as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.

Supporters believe that Senator Buba Umar’s decision to formally join the race demonstrates confidence in his vision for governance and his commitment to offering leadership that prioritises development and unity.

The APC governorship primaries, expected in the lead-up to the 2027 elections, will determine the party’s flag bearer in what is shaping up to be a competitive political contest in Bauchi State.
