NAF Bombards Terrorist Enclave, Levels Abasu Aiki’s Base in Katsina
The Nigerian Air Force has delivered a major blow to terrorist operations in the North-West, bombarding a key enclave and destroying a hideout linked to notorious kingpin Abasu Aiki in Katsina State.
The precision strike, carried out on May 1, 2026, by the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 2, targeted a well-established terrorist base within the Dan-Aji Forest in Faskari Local Government Area, following credible intelligence on renewed insurgent activity in the area.
According to the Nigerian Air Force, the location served as a logistics hub and transit point for fighters loyal to Aiki, who have been implicated in a series of attacks on communities and security personnel across Faskari, Kankara, and Funtua axes of the state.

Air surveillance identified armed terrorists on motorcycles alongside other fighters within the enclave, prompting a swift and coordinated strike on both the personnel and their support infrastructure.
A post-strike Battle Damage Assessment indicated that several terrorists were neutralised, while the targeted structures were destroyed, triggering secondary explosions and widespread fires across the camp.
Military authorities said the operation has significantly disrupted terrorist movement, logistics, and resupply routes within the area, weakening the operational capacity of the group.
The Air Force reaffirmed its resolve to sustain offensive air operations aimed at denying terrorists safe havens, dismantling their networks, and supporting ongoing ground efforts to restore peace and security across the North-West.
It added that operations under Operation FANSAN YAMMA would continue with increased intensity, as security forces maintain pressure on terrorist elements across the region.
