Military Airstrike Hits Terrorist Hideout in Borno, Neutralises Several Fighters
The Air Component of Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI has recorded another major operational success following a precision airstrike that neutralised several terrorists and destroyed a logistics vehicle in Borno State.
The operation, which targeted terrorist elements in the Cross Kauwa–Ali Sherifti general area, was carried out in the early hours of June 7, 2026, as part of sustained military offensives aimed at degrading insurgent capabilities across the North East.
According to details contained in a statement posted on the Nigerian Army’s official Facebook page on Sunday, the intelligence-led mission followed credible reports of terrorist activities within the area, prompting a follow-up air interdiction operation.
Military air surveillance reportedly detected a group of terrorists concealed under trees, while another group was observed close to a vehicle hidden beneath dense foliage.

Following positive identification, the air crew launched a precision strike on the first target, killing eight terrorists.
A subsequent Battle Damage Assessment revealed additional terrorist elements attempting to flee the area. The military immediately launched a follow-on strike targeting the fleeing insurgents and the concealed logistics vehicle believed to be supporting terrorist operations.
The operation resulted in the elimination of the terrorists and the destruction of the vehicle, which was engulfed in flames after the strike.
Further assessment by military authorities reportedly confirmed the absence of surviving terrorist movement within the target area.
The military said the successful operation underscores the commitment of troops under Operation HADIN KAI to dismantling terrorist networks, denying insurgents freedom of movement, and disrupting logistics infrastructure sustaining attacks in the region.
It added that the Armed Forces of Nigeria, working in collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders, would continue aggressive operations aimed at restoring peace, security, and stability across the North East and other parts of the country.
