Troops Arrest ISWAP Informant Over Planned Attack on Military Base in Borno
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a 26-year-old man suspected of working as an informant for the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and aiding plans to attack military positions in Borno State.
Security sources disclosed that the suspect, identified as Mustapha Mohammed, was apprehended on June 19 by troops of the 19 Brigade at the Kekeno-Monguno checkpoint following credible intelligence reports.
According to sources familiar with the operation, the suspect was allegedly involved in gathering intelligence and maintaining links with ISWAP elements operating within the area.

Preliminary investigations reportedly revealed that he was connected to plans by terrorists to target troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Kekeno.
“Acting on credible intelligence, troops of the 19 Brigade deployed at the Kekeno-Monguno checkpoint arrested Mustapha Mohammed, 26, who is suspected of serving as an ISWAP informant,” a security source said.
The source added that the suspect was allegedly collaborating with terrorists in efforts to facilitate a possible attack on troops deployed at FOB Kekeno.
Military authorities confirmed that the suspect remains in the custody of the 19 Brigade, where he is undergoing further interrogation and intelligence exploitation as investigations continue.
