NIS Suspends Operations of Nigerian Visa Application Centres in U.S. Indefinitely
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the indefinite suspension of the operations of Online Integrated Solutions (OIS Services), the company managing Nigeria’s Visa Application Centres in the United States.
The suspension, which took effect from July 1, 2026, affects prospective travellers and Nigerians residing in the United States seeking visas to enter Nigeria.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by the Service Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI) Akinsola Akinlabi.
According to the statement, all visa applicants are now required to submit their applications directly at the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., or at the Consulates General of Nigeria in New York and Atlanta.

Akinlabi explained that the suspension of OIS Services would remain in force until further notice, stressing that the directive applies only to visa application submissions at Nigeria’s diplomatic missions in the United States.
He clarified that the suspension does not affect Nigeria’s electronic visa (e-Visa) platform, noting that applicants can continue to process e-Visas through the official online portal.
The immigration spokesman assured applicants that adequate measures had been put in place to ensure the seamless submission, processing and issuance of visas despite the suspension of the Visa Application Centres.
He urged intending applicants to rely on official communication channels of the Nigeria Immigration Service and Nigeria’s diplomatic missions in the United States for updates on visa application procedures.
Akinlabi also expressed appreciation to applicants for their understanding and cooperation during the transition, reiterating the NIS’s commitment to delivering efficient and effective immigration services.
