Troops Overpower Terrorists, Free 4 Kidnap Victims in Kebbi-Sokoto Border Operation
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued four abducted victims during a counter-terrorism operation in Surimi, a border community between Kebbi and Sokoto states.
The operation, conducted on Friday, July 10, 2026, was carried out without any casualties among the troops.
Military authorities said the successful rescue followed credible intelligence indicating the presence of armed terrorists operating within the Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The troops’ superior firepower overwhelmed the assailants, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding bush to evade capture.
Following the operation, the four rescued victims were safely reunited with their families.
The latest success underscores the sustained efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to combat terrorism, dismantle criminal networks and enhance security across the North-West region, particularly in vulnerable border communities frequently targeted by armed groups.
