Army, Police Eliminate 3 Terrorists, Rescues 3 Kidnap Victims in Edo Forest
Troops of the Nigerian Army, working in a joint operation with the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilante groups, have rescued three kidnapped victims, neutralised two suspected terrorists and recovered arms and other items during a coordinated operation in Edo State.
The operation was launched following a report of a kidnap incident at Ambrose Alli University on July 13, 2026.
According to the Nigerian Army, troops acted on credible intelligence and, in collaboration with police personnel and local vigilantes, tracked the suspected kidnappers to their hideout in Esan Local Government Area of the state.

The joint security team engaged the suspects in a fierce gun battle, during which two of the suspected terrorists were killed. The remaining members of the gang reportedly fled the scene under sustained pressure from the security operatives, abandoning their captives.
The Army said the three kidnapped victims were rescued unhurt during the operation.
Items recovered from the scene included three AK-47 rifles, 39 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, three mobile phones and two power banks.
The recovered exhibits are currently in the custody of the security agencies, while efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing members of the criminal syndicate.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining collaboration with sister security agencies and relevant stakeholders to combat criminality and enhance the protection of lives and property across the country.
It also urged members of the public to continue supporting ongoing security operations by providing credible and timely information on criminal hideouts and the activities of their collaborators.
