ISWAP Finance Chief’s Wife, Son Surrender to Nigerian Troops
The wife and 11-year-old son of a senior ISWAP finance chief have surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Borno State, days after the terrorist commander himself gave up.
The duo surrendered to troops of 3 Battalion through Kusuma Village on July 29, 2026, following the escape and surrender of the ISWAP commander, who reportedly served as the group’s Chief Finance Officer in Jubillaram.
According to a statement by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force, North East, Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, preliminary investigations revealed that the commander had instructed his wife to surrender with their son after he successfully escaped from the terrorist enclave on July 25.
The woman and her son have been screened and are undergoing further profiling in line with established procedures.
The development came as troops intensified intelligence-led operations targeting terrorist networks, leading to the arrest of six suspected ISWAP collaborators and the recovery of logistics items in separate operations across Borno State.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects allegedly generated funds for the terrorist group through the procurement and sale of cattle at designated markets in Gubio, Damasak and Ajuwango.
Troops recovered a Volkswagen Golf vehicle, vehicle keys, four mobile phones, cow meat and ₦317,950 from the suspects, who are currently in military custody for further investigation.
In a related operation, troops of 145 Battalion, acting on credible intelligence, conducted a clearance operation at Turoh.
The terrorists reportedly fled in disarray on sighting the advancing troops. During subsequent exploitation of the area, troops recovered two motorcycles and large quantities of illicit hard drugs abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.
The Joint Task Force said the developments reflected the impact of sustained intelligence-driven and offensive operations aimed at dismantling terrorist logistics and financial networks.
Operation Hadin Kai urged willing terrorist members and their families to surrender while calling on members of the public to provide credible and timely information to support ongoing operations to restore peace and security across the North-East.
