Military Girls School Graduates 25 Cadets in Zamfara, Seeks Infrastructural Support

Command Science Secondary School (Girls), Gusau, Zamfara State, has graduated 25 students during its 2026 Graduation, Speech and Prize-Giving Ceremony, with the school reaffirming its commitment to academic excellence while appealing for urgent intervention to address critical infrastructure challenges.
The colourful ceremony, held on Thursday, also celebrated the achievements of the graduating class amid displays of academic excellence, discipline and leadership.
In her address, the Commandant of the school, Major Fatima Jimoh, said the institution, established by the Nigerian Army in May 2017, has continued to grow steadily as a centre of excellence for girl-child education.
She disclosed that the school has so far produced 180 graduates, many of whom recorded commendable performances in both the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations.
Major Jimoh highlighted several improvements recorded since she assumed office in May 2026, including the restoration of regular water supply through solar-powered facilities, renovation of the administrative block, revival of the school band, and strengthened discipline among staff and students.

Despite the progress, she identified several pressing challenges confronting the institution, including the absence of a standard science laboratory, a dilapidated dining hall, leaking classroom roofs and inadequate staff accommodation.
She appealed to the Federal Government, the Nigerian Army and public-spirited individuals to support the school by providing the infrastructure needed to sustain quality teaching and learning.
The Commandant also called on parents and guardians to take advantage of the school’s secure and disciplined environment by enrolling more girls, stressing that education remains one of the most effective tools for empowering the girl-child and promoting national development.
Representing the Special Guest of Honour, the Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General W.B. Idris, Lieutenant Colonel Gezawa Musa commended the school for its contributions to educational development and assured the management of continued operational and institutional support.
He urged the graduating students to remain focused on their future aspirations, uphold integrity in all their endeavours and serve as worthy ambassadors of the institution.
The event featured an impressive parade by the graduating students, cultural performances, debates, the unveiling of the school’s magazine, and the presentation of awards and prizes to outstanding students for excellence in academics and leadership.
Parents, military officers, education stakeholders and guests who attended the ceremony applauded the school’s achievements and encouraged the graduating students to pursue higher education and continue to distinguish themselves in their future endeavours.
