Plateau: Troops Arrest 19 Suspects Over Deadly Ambush on Security Personnel
Troops of Sector 6, Operation Enduring Peace, have arrested 19 suspects during a raid on Tongoron Community in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, following a deadly ambush on security personnel in the area.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was conducted at about 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, as part of follow-up operations to identify those responsible for the attack on security personnel at a snap roadblock along the Ganawuri–Sabon Gida axis.
The sources said troops raided Tongoron Community during the intelligence-led operation and arrested 19 individuals for profiling and further investigation.

The suspects comprise 14 natives of the community and five Fulani residents, according to the sources.
Military authorities said the suspects are currently undergoing detailed profiling and interrogation to establish whether they have any links to the ambush or other criminal activities in the area.
The operation is part of sustained clearance and cordon-and-search operations by troops of Operation Enduring Peace aimed at identifying and apprehending those responsible for the attack, recovering weapons and preventing further security breaches in Riyom and adjoining communities.
Security forces are expected to sustain intelligence-led operations in the area as efforts continue to track down the perpetrators and restore security along the affected axis.
