Military Rescues Six Abductees, Recover N800,000 in Katsina Operation
Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six kidnapped victims and recovered N800,000 taken from them by terrorists during an operation in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The victims were rescued on August 22, 2026, after troops of Sector 2, conducting a fighting patrol, responded to a distress call that terrorists had intercepted a vehicle and abducted six occupants along the Dandume–Sheme Road.
According to a statement by the Joint Task Force’s Media Information Officer, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the troops swiftly advanced to the area and engaged the terrorists, who were overwhelmed by superior firepower and forced to flee into the surrounding bushes, abandoning their captives.

The six victims were subsequently rescued unharmed following an extensive search and exploitation of the area. Troops also recovered the N800,000 reportedly taken from the victims by the terrorists.
The recovered cash and vehicle were later handed back to the victims in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume.
In a separate operation conducted on August 21, troops of Sector 2 encountered terrorists along the Maraban Kankara axis in Kankara Local Government Area.
The troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to flee in disarray into the surrounding bushes. They pursued the fleeing elements and subsequently recovered one motorcycle during an exploitation of the area.
The Joint Task Force said it would sustain aggressive patrols and offensive operations across the North-West to deny terrorists freedom of action while protecting lives and property.
It also urged members of the public, particularly communities in affected areas, to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
